We're making the luxury of customization affordable, and it's helping our clients bring more dollars to their bottom lines.
At AmpThink, we specialize in designing, installing, and maintaining the low-voltage cabling infrastructure that supports data, voice, and video communication systems. Our work provides the backbone for reliable networking and ensures that all devices — computers, telephones, security cameras, IoT and other networked equipment — can connect and communicate efficiently.
Needs Assessment and Site Survey
Consultation and planning begins by understanding the your current and anticipated network requirements including bandwidth needs, number of devices, and any specific performance criteria. Once we have a deep understanding of your needs, we can begin an assessment and plan the right path forward.
Site inspections are an important part of the process. A physical survey of the building(s) or campus is conducted to identify cable routes, potential challenges (distance constraints, interference, existing infrastructure), and ideal locations for network equipment and wireless access points.
Network Infrastructure Design
Throughout the process, AmpThink tracks the work and we create a detailed design documents that show cable routes, termination points, network device locations, and potential wireless access point placements. All designs will adhere to industry standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC) and local building codes for safety and performance.
Selecting the right cable type (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic) and hardware (patch panels, racks, cable trays) ensures optimal performance for both wired and wireless network segments.
Cable Installation & Management
AmpThink technicians will run cables through ceilings, walls, conduits, and cable trays, focusing on neatness, protection, and minimizing interference. Cables are terminated in patch panels, wall plates, or other endpoints, with each cable labeled for easy identification and troubleshooting.
Equipment racks and cabinets are installed to house switches, routers, patch panels, and other network devices with proper cable management.
Wi-Fi Installation & Optimization
For wireless designs, AmpThink can design and install wireless networks, determining optimal access point (AP) locations for maximum coverage and performance. This often includes on-site Wi-Fi surveys and heatmaps to visualize signal strength.
Each access point is connected via a dedicated cable run (usually Cat6 or higher) back to a central switch, ensuring consistent power (via PoE) and data connectivity.
AmpThink will configure and test each AP to ensure seamless coverage and performance throughout the building or campus. This may include channel planning, SSID configuration, and security setup (e.g., WPA3).
Testing & Certification
Upon installation, each cable is tested to confirm it meets or exceeds performance specifications — verifying signal integrity, bandwidth, and adherence to standards.
We have Registered Communications Distribution Designer’s (RCDD) on staff and our Manufacturer Certified Technicians can offer a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty on cable and fiber installations.
Upgrades & Expansions
As your network grows, AmpThink can recommend and implement upgrades such as installing higher-category cables (Cat6A, Cat7) or introducing fiber optics to support faster speeds or more devices.
Moves, Adds, and Changes or (MACs) handle routine changes like relocating workstations, adding new devices or APs, and reorganizing infrastructure to accommodate evolving business needs.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Periodic check-ups catch issues like damaged cables, loose connections, or weak Wi-Fi coverage that might impact network performance.
Should network problems such as slow speeds, connection drops, or outages arise, AmpThink support services can come onsite to diagnose issues and perform repairs and/or replacements of cables and other AP related issues.
Additional Low-Voltage Services
AmpThink handles fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing for high-speed backbone connections. Our engineers and equipment are state-of-the-art and performed in well lighted and controlled environments which ensure you’re getting the best quality work with the best quality products.
Services also include installing or upgrading CCTV, access control systems, and other low-voltage networks.
AmpThink offers guidance on ensuring compliance with TIA/EIA standards, local building codes, and wireless security best practices.
